Behind the Scenes & In the Flow: Sedona Yoga Festival
A few weeks ago, I had the incredible opportunity to attend the Sedona Yoga Festival—not just as a participant, but also as a volunteer. The experience was equal parts exhilarating, exhausting, and eye-opening, and I left with a renewed sense of inspiration and purpose.
Volunteering: Learning Through Service
Volunteering at a large-scale yoga festival like this one gave me a unique window into the behind-the-scenes orchestration that holds the magic together. From early morning setups to assisting with session logistics, it was definitely a lot of work, and it left me with limited time to actually participate in the festival offerings.
That said, the experience taught me so much about energy management and the practice of ahimsa—non-harming, not just toward others, but toward myself. I had to make conscious choices about where to place my time, energy, and attention. It was a living lesson in self-compassion and boundary setting, both of which are core to living a yogic life off the mat.
Moments That Moved Me
Though my schedule was tight, I carved out time for a few powerful sessions that left lasting impressions. One of the most profound was witnessing the dynamic, wave-like movements of Kundalini Yoga, which deeply resonated with the Qi Gong flows I teach. It reminded me that, across cultures and lineages, we are all speaking the same language of energy and inner awakening. I also had the chance to meet one of my favorite DJs (DJ Taz Rashid pictured) and that was the cherry on top!
